The general theme of the Kinsale is to offer more affordable versions of the shapes originally released in the Sherlock Holmes line. The "XL12" in particular is based off of the "Baskerville," which derived its name from one of Holmes' best known adventures, Hound of the Baskervilles. Like many pipes from the original Sherlock Holmes line, it is a unique blend of multiple classic forms — in this case the classic 3/4 bent Billiard mated to the taper and bead-lined rim of a Bulldog or Rhodesian.
